Omer 7: Blooming in a Brutal World
Today I went to Wave Hill Garden in Riverdale where the spring flowers are blooming, the Hudson River and Palisades twinkle to the west under the sunlight, and bees are just beginning to buzz. Flowers and petals peeked out in yellow, red, purple, orange, green, white. The leaves felt soft, many just emerging from their buds.
Yet recently, each day feels more and more difficult to traipse through societal life. Fears about health, class divides, work, public transportation, mental health hang in the air. People are fighting to keep beauty alive through arts and culture, and on a deeper level, to stay alive through the ability to work.

During this omer, I hope to keep finding the blooms around me and encouraging others to look for the beauty. I hope friends and communities encourage each other to keep blooming in their gifts and purpose.
