Reflection

Changing Seasons

While my Omer posts didn’t continue as smoothly as I’d planned, I’ve embarked upon a season of change. I spent many days preparing and helping my parents move, something which is still in process, of course, and as usual with more moving parts than those for which we could plan ahead. Among the good, bad, mundane, surprising – I’m happy my immediate family can see another season, even with new challenges.

Somehow only during this move did I learn that the mezuzah that before welcomed us into my parents’ home belonged to my grandparents. There’s always more to learn about family, stories to be shared, objects to trace, and newness to appreciate and behold.

Upon returning to New York, life has upended in many ways. I’m in search of changes for myself – in routines, in secrets for concentration and balance. At the same time, I’ve felt grounded in friends, my home, projects, music, creation. There has been ample time for reflection the past few weeks about the merging of the season just past and what is upcoming – not quite answers, but the beginning of moving into the as-yet-unkown.
