Omer 9: Confusion in a Confident World
Life can sometimes feel like a balance between leaning into what I don’t know and trusting my experience enough to act. Often, people present confidence while still figuring out new information, methods, connections. Confidence is certainly something cultivated and earned, practicing and facing confusion along the way. In a world that caters to confident actors, admitting confusion and searching for co-journeyers may bring new ideas, renewed partnerships, and a reminder that human nature is messy, fun, scary, wonderful.

Many things have changed in my life during the past couple years: upended, transformed, grown, crept up on me. Relationships, work, ideas, skills look different now, and I often find myself in awe. Rarely, though, am I struck by knowing exactly how that change occurred, where things will land, or the certain next step. Mostly, I consider my surprise, journey to new knowledge, utter confusion. The conversations I have in those moments become the most moving and connecting.
The ability to embrace confusion, reconsider stories, find new relationship pathways allows for a resilience that breeds lasting confidence. I hope to continue poking at the confusion along the way to contentment and confidence.
