Omer 16: Emotions in an Entropic World
The last few years, the time and energy required to process emotions about personal life, work and creative enterprises, and the world have increased greatly. As society hurls further and further toward the entropy that naturally occurs, more work is required not to bang around without a place to stop and reflect, to grab hold of something before continuing along a path that is seemingly endless. Emotional regulation and mental clarity are interdependent.
I won’t pretend to have easy answers to working through emotions in the midst of hard days, difficult seasons, terrible events. Indeed, I have often struggled to find the perfect balance between processing emotions and finding the concentration to focus on several hours of work. Overwhelming emotions and their effects often stop me in my tracks, and that is something I have been working to mitigate recently.

I don’t know if things will change enough anytime soon for us not to struggle with processing emotions. However, in the entropy of the world, I am encouraged that I am enduring this period of history alongside so many friends who have brought me support and ideas.
