Drowning

I don’t have much for you this week, either, I’m afraid – so instead I’ll offer you a report of our Hebrew school lesson last week. Since the students talked about Noah Sunday (and presented a skit about the story of the flood!), Wednesday we talked about the Tower of Babel. We talked about the difficulties of communicating without speaking the same language, and how it would have been possible. I asked: Why was G!d so mad if humans can’t reach his power? (That’s not really an answerable question, but it gets the brain flowing pretty well!) Then we tried building something as tall as we could in our classroom – that ended up being lots of chairs stacked on tables.

The Tower of Babel – the confusion of languages – two of humanity’s still looming aspirations. We love cities with tall buildings and we consistently find ways to communicate with those who don’t share our language. (But do we strive to communicate with those we don’t understand in other ways?)

My Komps Kaos kontinues! This week I’ve finalized a second bibliography and am entering another phase of creating my third bibliography. I’m trying to move ahead with my reading, as usual.
