Back to the Land

A short update from a long year (hence the void of posts – sometime I will get through a full Torah cycle):
In a week, I will have completed my Ph.D. coursework. How is that possible? Next year will be crazy, difficult, and hopefully a time of deep learning as I study for and take my comprehensive exams.
This year I have had unimaginable opportunities on campus – ask me about them sometime. While my year has been one of growth, stress, friends, hope, persistence, and endurance – I have been reminded over and over why G!d led me here through all the twists and turns along the way. I still feel fulfilled in a deep way as I learn widely about my people, the Bible and all the myriads of interpretations and creative endeavors that surround it, and academic pursuits.
Where will I be headed in a year? I can’t wait to see what doors open for me in the next twelve months.
In a little over a week, Israel’s door will once again welcome me home. I will post updates on my adventures – my family will be with me, and later we will dig at Tel Gezer, join the HUC graduate students, and dig at Tel Dan. In the meantime we will tour the motherland, see family and friends, and enjoy the food, beach, culture, holidays…
Reach out to me if you need anything in Israel!
