Like Mother, Like Daughter (Women’s History Day Seven)
In perhaps the easiest connection I’ll find this month, I want to give credit to Chava Rosenfarb’s daughter, Goldie Morgentaler. She translated her mother’s work, the work of other Yiddish writers including I.L. Peretz, and she has preserved her mother’s history through interviews with the Wexler Oral History Project.

In her own right, Goldie has become a prolific writer, often with Chava as the subject. She has ensured her mother’s story was written not just in Chava’s words, but also in Goldie’s. Articles considering her mother’s writing, friendships, history, and life have been published during Goldie’s academic career. Their legacies are intertwined.
