Omer 14: Flowering in a Frantic World
This spring, along with many other people, I am enraptured by the blooming trees and gardens along my paths and throughout the city. I have visited Wave Hill Gardens, the Heather Garden in Fort Tryon Park, and Morningside Park this week. Walking the Manhattan Bridge, I saw many blooms and trees along the way. The constantly changing trees and Grace Church always cause me to pause as I walk to the Village.
During my own walks and pauses, I notice many other people stopping to appreciate the beauty around them. They take pictures, touch the leaves and petals, smell, smile, and seem to take a moment to reflect and be grateful. After the winter and grey days, the sun and flowers bring a renewed energy. In a fast-paced city and a world that can easily bring news that feels inescapable, the natural world brings a natural break from the frantic rush around us.

I am looking forward to seeing new blooms and more variety of spring this week and throughout the Omer.
